在“古依奈斯”(Guinness)一书中,记载了一项最高纪录,就是由西门子公司研制出了一根有四千个纤芯的光缆。一根有如此多纤芯的光缆的外径则只有85毫米。由于德意志联邦邮局规定的敷设电缆的标准是100毫米,因此如此小尺寸的光缆是可用的。目前在电缆渠道里敷设的电缆都是铜缆,通向用户的电缆芯数最多的也是四千个芯子。通向每个用户同样都是两根线,但玻璃线与铜线相比能提高传输频率,使得每个用户线的频宽从3.4KHz升高到200MHz。这样的频带宽度意味着可以传输许多电视频道、许多立体声广播和话路尽可能多的电视电话——至于传送各种数据更不在话下。使用这种光缆今后必然会满足人们的需求。
In Guinness, one of the highest records shows that a 4,000 fiber-optic cable was developed by Siemens. An optical fiber cable with so many cores has an outer diameter of only 85mm. Since the standard laid down by the Federal Post Office is 100 mm, a cable of this small size is available. At present, the cables laid in the cable channels are all copper cables, and the maximum number of cables leading to the users is also 4000 cores. The same leads to each user are two lines, but the glass line and copper compared to increase the transmission frequency, making each user line bandwidth increased from 3.4KHz to 200MHz. Such a bandwidth means that many television channels can be transmitted, many stereo broadcasts and as many TV calls as possible - not to mention transferring various kinds of data.
