In four counties and one city of Guangxi, we compared the effects of five different annual rainfalls and annual average temperature on the death of Waxworms and the production of their waxworms and waxes. The results showed that the annual average temperature had little effect on the death of the beetle; the annual rainfall was the main cause of the large number of deaths of the beetle. After each heavy rain, a peak of female mortality occurred. Females are more sensitive than males and have an upper limit of 1552.5 mm. Below this upper limit, both female and male waxworms grow and develop well, with low mortality and high yield of waxes. Conversely, large numbers of fatalities of females have led to a significant increase in the percentage of deaths with increasing annual rainfall. Male insects, though insensitive to insects, are often mildewed in waxy flowers in the event of excessive rainfall, resulting in the death of male waxworms indirectly with very little wax production.
