People living in cities take elevators almost every day, but have you ever thought of taking an elevator to space travel? Maybe someday, as long as humans put down a rope from space, they can pull satellites and spacecraft to a predetermined orbit, like playing. Puppets are as easy. This bold idea was first proposed by Russian scientists in the 1960s. Later, U.S. space scientists further demonstrated this. The famous space science fiction writer Arthur Clarke wrote a book called “The Fountain of Heaven” based on their ideas. In these science fiction novels, engineers used state-of-the-art materials to build a space elevator with a lift station located on the Earth’s equator.
