Recently, the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, made breakthroughs in the molecular study of fish antivirus and immunity. A number of genes involved in antiviral and immune responses to fish were isolated and identified, especially the fish interferon system genes. Chinese Science website reported that the research results have important theoretical significance to further elucidate the molecular mechanism of fish anti-viral immunity, as well as to promote the development of fish antiviral drugs and establishment of anti-virus breeding technology.
