2014年第五轮中美人文交流高层磋商期间,中美两国中小学生代表共同发起“千校携手,热爱自然,绿色生活”倡议,号召中美青少年增强环保意识,保护环境,热爱自然。中国国务院副总理刘延东与美国国务卿克里出席中美“千校携手”项目启动仪式。中国国家主席习近平夫人彭丽媛教授、美国总统奥巴马及夫人米歇尔·奥巴马分别发贺信,鼓励中美青少年在环境与自然保护方面开展交流。
During the high-level consultation on the fifth round of cultural exchanges between China and the United States in 2014, the representatives of primary and secondary students from both China and the United States jointly launched the initiative of “Helping Hands with Nature and Green Life” by calling on thousands of youngsters in China and the United States to enhance environmental awareness, protect the environment and love nature . Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong and US Secretary of State Kerry attended the launching ceremony of the project of “joining hands with thousands of universities and colleges” in China and the United States. Chinese President Xi Jinping, Professor Peng Liyuan, U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama respectively sent letters of congratulation to encourage young people from China and the United States to carry out exchanges on environment and nature conservation.
