通过计算机分析,得知48味咸味药中,寒性居多(占50.0%),温性次之(占25.0%),平性药居第3位(占20.8%),热、凉性药各1味,同位于第4位(各占2.1%)。咸味入肝经最多(占34.0%),入肾经居第2位(占20.6%),入胃经居第3位(占13.4%),入肺经居第4位(占12.4%),入心经居第5位(占11.3%),入大肠经居第6位(占5.2%),入膀胱经居第7位(占3.1%);不入小肠经、胆经及三焦经。中药的类别是以功效来划分的,其类别分布代表着该经药物所具有的功效范围和特点,咸味中药中有补阳药8味(占16.7%),清热化痰药6味(占12.5%),熄风止痉药4味(占8.3%),平抑肝阳药3味(占6.3%),清热凉血药3味(占6.3%),清热泻火药2味(占4.2%),重镇安神药2味(占4.2%),祛风湿药2味(占4.2%),固精缩尿止带药2味(占4.2%),补阴药2味(占4.2%),温化寒痰药2味(占4.2%),清虚热药1味(占2.1%),化拔毒生肌药1味(占2.1%),利水消肿药1味(占2.1%),理气药1味(占2.1%),杀虫止痒药1味(占2.1%),攻下药1味(占2.1%),清热解毒药1味(占2.1%)。咸味中药具有沉降性质者有23味(占47.9%),具有升浮性质者有18味(占37.5%),升降不明显者5味(占10.4%),说明咸味药以沉降为主。具有毒性的咸味中药有4味,在临床运用时要加以注意。
