横峰县位于江西省东北部,是江西省油茶重点基地县之一。全县油茶林面积1.58×10~4ha,占林业用地的40.1％,占有林地面积的64.2％。按当地群众习惯来划分:一类油茶林(林相较好,株数适当,产量较高,离村较近)7.13×10~3ha,占油茶总面积的45.2％。二类林(林相较差,疏密不匀,产量不高年年有)5.33×10~3ha,占33.7％。三类林(林相不整齐,杂草丛生,株数较少,产量年有年无,离村较远)3.33×10~3ha,
