火炬树于1975年从北京植物园引入我区,生长迅速,适应性广,能耐干旱瘠薄和土壤盐碱,水平根系发达,根蘗力强,易于繁殖,是水土保持和固沙造林的先锋树种,也可作庭院观赏树种。据调查,火炬树在我区有两种不同的叶型,一种叶型较大,叶对生,奇数羽状复叶,长圆形至披针形,小叶11～25枚,浅裂,叶长5～12厘米,宽2～4厘米,为引入的火炬树原种(Rpusyphina L.)。另一种叶型小,叶细对生,呈二回奇数羽状复叶,深裂,有9～17枚小叶,叶长6～8厘米,宽2.5～3.3厘
