关于“诗言志”的理论内涵,学术界有一些不同的意见,闻一多认为“志”有记忆之意,故“诗言志”表达了诗歌最初的记诵功能,由于见解新颖,得到许多研究者的认同。但从古文字和新出文献来看,“诗言志”的“志”本指“往”的意思,所以仍以传统“志之所之”为是。又因为“志”是一切语言核心,从而“诗言志”这一命题既区别了诗与音乐、舞蹈等艺术形式的不同,同时又注意到了诗和早期其他文体的不同。
