水利水电科学研究院从日本引进的M一160H计算机系统是目前水利、电力系统中设备最先进、处理能力最强的一个系统。该计算机是日立公司M系列的一个机种,与IBM一370系列在逻辑结构上完全相同,在汇编语言一级上是兼容的。该机采用了高速ECL逻辑电路,每片64KB的MOS大规模集成电路,可改写控制存贮器以及高速双极大规模集成电路缓冲存贮器,从而提高了处理能力,增强了可靠性,减少了实装体积。
