CO_2激光雷达问世于六十年代末,单具测距功能的CO_2激光测距仪可谓它的前身。七十年代,出现了一批以CO_2激光雷达为代表的相干红外雷达,大多数用于战略导弹和卫星的跟踪、测量和识别。在此期间,美、英、法、西德等国家以及苏联均投资发展,据报导美、英、西德等国己投入试用。CO_2激光测距仪则已部分装备坦克和舰船,如美国的MIEI坦克和西德的豹Ⅲ型坦克等。最早开展CO_2激光雷达研制工作的首推MIT林肯实验室。他们自六十年代中期开始将
