Most operations strategies focus on either efficiency - sometimes referred to as push strategy or reaction speed - sometimes referred to as pull strategy. Instead of looking for operational efficiency and trying to curtail the costs of all divisions, companies are focused on responsiveness, efforts to increase speed, order delivery rates, and service levels. While experienced operational and supply chain executives understand the difference between efficiency and responsiveness, there are still many who do not know exactly when to apply each of these two strategies.
