Texas Instruments delivers a dedicated AN / APS-9A GPS receiver dedicated to airborne and special forces vehicles, including helicopters, seaplanes and small ground vehicles, and is now equipped with U.S. troops. The GPS receiver enables the parachuting parachuting landing at a predetermined landing zone. According to Texas Instruments Inc., the five-channel receiver weighs 4.54 kg and provides an initial position reading after two minutes of on-time. GPS receives signals from GPS navigation satellites and uses single-board channel (COAC) technology to determine the three-dimensional position, speed and time for the user. Position accuracy is less than 16m, and the position is corrected once per second. This allows the parachutists to navigate and open the parachute after altitude landing using GPS.
