Cultural manufacturing is mainly confined to hardware products, such as toys, entertainment equipment, musical instruments and so on, which are products of cross-industry and culture. Chen Shao-feng, vice president of Peking University’s Cultural Industry Research Institute, believes that at present China’s cultural competitiveness is at a disadvantage in the world. The one-year trade deficit in trade in services is about 100 billion U.S. dollars and the tourism alone accounts for more than 70 billion U.S. dollars.
