朱澄出生在江苏省江阴市华士镇一个农民家庭。2004年,他考进河海大学,学国际贸易专业。当别的同学还在懵懂地适应大学生活时,他向妈妈要来600元钱批了一些外贸尾单的袜子,开始逐个宿舍敲门卖起袜子来。除了在学校卖,他还背着袜子到南京、上海、北京的批发市场去推销。读大三的时候,朱澄靠卖袜子已经攒下了15万元,还注册了自己的袜子商标“传澄”。从此,他一发不可收,把袜子做成了一个王国。
