IDE硬盘因磁录密度技术的提高,单碟容量可高达40GB,因此IDE硬盘容量得以冲破上百GB。以目前一般存储用途而言,应该是足以应付。但是拥有高容量,而传输速率没有改变的情况下,对于需要传输大量数据时,自然需要较长的时间。传输数据的时间越长,那么系统处理数据的整体性能当然也会受到影响。为了提高IDE硬盘传输数据速度,Maxtor抢在下一代新传输接口规格SerialATA正式问世前,先发布了UltraATA/133的传输规格协议。虽然仍沿用parallelATA(并行传输结构),并且与以前的传输规格大致无异,不过还是加入了新的设计,有效地提高了传输速度。企划制作谢如萍摄影王汶松
