画眉者,“以黛饰眉”也,即用青黑色描画眉毛。我国古代妇女中早已有画眉的习惯。《汉书·张敞传》有云:“敞无威仪,为妇画眉;有司以奏,上问之,敞曰:‘臣闻闺房之内,夫妇之私,有过于画眉者。’”于是“张敞画眉”一语就成了夫妻恩爱的代称。韩偓在《以庭前海棠花一枝寄李十九员外》诗中说:“不知寄与星郎去,想得朝回正画眉。”陶渊明在《闲情赋》中说:“愿在眉而为黛,随瞻视以闲扬。”……这些诗句大都包含着一种鲜明的感情色彩,或者传为佳话,或者作为名句
