张东红现阶段的代表作品大致可以分为两类:一类是以他女儿妞妞为原型的少女系列:一类是以中国传统山水画为载体的山水系列。但无论是少女系列还是山水系列,都被张东红以一种独有的语言方式,即带有写意性的表现主义运笔所渲染,而超出了原来的形象本身,具有了特殊的审美品质。对形式美感的追求,即如何通过不同的视角来表现超越物象的特殊美感,一直都贯穿在张东红的作品中。我看过他不少早期作品,无论是画物还是绘人,他的运笔都很讲究,不是拘泥于具体的形象,而是借以这个具体的形象来抒怀,表现自己对绘画作为一种语言的独特领悟。1988年至1992年,张东红在吉林艺术学院接受了四年的正规学院教育,耳濡目染,
