Recently,amylose,a linear glucan with same α-1,4-glucoside linkage as in cyclodextrins(CD),and its derivatives used as host have gained growing significance.Being a host,itdiffers from CD in the fact that the latter possesses pre-constituted cavity with a fixed size de-pending on the number of constituting glucose residue.For instance,in amylose there is aself-organization of macromolecular conformation from random coil or loose helices jointedwith some coil regions to interrupted helices during the binding process.Then the complexformed is relatively loose and usually the whole hydrophobic substrate enters into the cavityof amylose helix.
