湖南是一个少数民族人口众多的中部省份,全省56个民族齐聚,少数民族人口达641万,占全省总人口的十分之一强,少数民族人口绝对数在全国各省市区中居第6位。世居的少数民族有土家族、苗族、侗族、瑶族、白族、回族、壮族、维吾尔族等8个。
Hunan is a middle-aged province with a large population of ethnic minorities. 56 ethnic groups in the province gather together, with a population of 6.41 million, accounting for more than one-tenth of the province’s total population. The absolute number of ethnic minorities ranks among the provinces and municipalities in the country 6. The remaining ethnic minorities include Tujia, Miao, Dong, Yao, Bai, Hui, Zhuang and Uyghur.
