英语中性性别称谓Mx囊括男性、女性和跨性别人士。从模因论、词汇学和需求论视角研究发现:Mx是模因复制选择重组变异称谓进化的结果;Mx的拼缀构词方式符合语言创新经济省力的原则;Mx能够满足普通人群、跨性别人士和不想使用特定性别称谓的人士的多种称谓需求。从语用学、取效行为论和翻译学视角探析认为:依托Mx构建的多种社交称呼范式能够满足称呼者的社交需要和被称呼者的心理需要,不仅有助于填补社交称呼缺环解围无呼可称的称谓困境以实现和谐沟通成功交际的语用目的,而且有助于消除英语语言在称谓词语和称呼范式方面长期被诟病的性别歧视嫌疑;Mx是英语称谓变革在追求性别平等、婚姻隐私平等和社会和谐的道路上所取得的重大成果;汉英跨文化交际中Mx的汉译应依据被称呼者的身份性别和特定语境而灵活确定。
