翻译学的学科建设在2004年跨入了一个新的阶段:上海外国语大学翻译学学位点的设立,标志着翻译学作为一门独立的学科,在中国内地的高等教育体制中获得了合法地位。经过五十多年、特别是近一二十年来翻译界广大师生的共同努力,取得上述重大进展。在中国内地的高等教育里,翻译从附属于外国语言教学的地位,发展到成为一门独立的学科,其间所经历的艰难,已经化作为此付出艰苦努力的翻译界全体同仁的欣慰。
In 2004, the discipline construction of translatology entered a new stage: the establishment of the translating school of Shanghai International Studies University marked the legitimacy of translatology as an independent discipline in the system of higher education in mainland China. After more than 50 years, especially in the last decade or two, the vast majority of teachers and students in the translation community worked together to make the above significant progress. In higher education in mainland China, translation has grown from being attached to the teaching of foreign languages to becoming an independent subject. The difficulties experienced during this period have been rewarded by all my colleagues in the translation community who have worked so hard.
