临汾位于山西南部,地处临汾盆地中央。临汾虽得名于隋开皇初年,至今垂1400余年,但其尧都古称在传说与文史中久已存在。足证其文化底蕴之深厚与文明传递之源远流长。其修志事业,尤足令人瞩目,自明正统以来,直至1933年,前后九修县志,计明志二、清志五、民国志二,有此传承,临汾之?
