This article discusses the morphology and physical properties of PRD-149, a new ultra-high modulus Kevlar fiber. The fiber is highly crystalline and has a unique supercrystalline structure. The spun yarn tensile strength of 2.3 ~ 2.6GPa, tensile modulus 162 ~ 175GPa, while the market supply of Kevlar-49 fiber tensile strength of about 2.8GPa, tensile modulus of about 121GPa (with the fiber type and denier) . The high crystallinity of PRD-149 reduces fiber creep and moisture regain. Fiber properties in the composite material conversion is better. The epoxy impregnated yarn modulus and high strength carbon fiber similar. It is expected to find application in many areas, from optical fiber cable reinforcements to aramid / carbon fiber hybrid composites.
