我国著名的现代民族音乐家刘天华(1885—1932年)是江阴县(今江阴市)澄江镇西横街人。他曾经在北京参加过一次盛大的音乐会,他演奏的二胡、琵琶博得了中外人士的高度赞扬。1930年,北京饭店举行了一次盛大的音乐会。参加演奏的有世界四大小提琴手之一的德国人欧尔门等;中国的刘天华等国乐家们也应邀演奏。观众里有外国使馆的文化参赞、大使大人、来华讲学的学者和商人,还有北京大学校长蒋梦麟和著名诗人徐志摩等。
Liu Tianhua (1885-1932), a famous modern national musician in China, is a member of the West Hengjie Street in Chengjiang Town, Jiangyin County (now Jiangyin City). He had participated in a grand concert in Beijing. His erhu and pipa won high praise from Chinese and foreigners. In 1930, Beijing Hotel held a grand concert. Participated in the performance of the world’s four major violinists such as the German Orrmen; China Liu Tianhua and other musicians also invited to play. In the audience, there are cultural counselors from foreign embassies, ambassadors, academics and businessmen who come to China for lectures, and Jiang Menglin, the president of Peking University, and Xu Zhimo, a famous poet.
