To provide evidence for the prevalence of schistosomiasis in adolescents and to develop interventions. Methods A uniform questionnaire was designed and 1 725 secondary school students in the area were investigated using a questionnaire. Among them, 1,450 valid questionnaires were collected. Results Adolescents do not know enough about some basic knowledge of schistosomiasis. Fifty-nine percent of the people had never been tested for schistosomiasis, 50.4% did not know the main period of schistosomiasis infection, 48.9% were exposed to water in a playful manner, and 59.1% were suspected of being infected with schistosomiasis I’ll go to a doctor immediately when I am sick. 39.7% of people do not know whether schistosomiasis can kill people. Conclusion Adolescents are an easily neglected group. Targeted interventions should be taken to improve young people’s awareness of schistosomiasis and prevent juvenile infection of schistosomiasis.
