Faced with the ever-changing scientific and technological advancement and the increasingly fierce international competition, cultivating talents with innovative spirit and practical ability is the task that the times have given to education. Higher-order thinking is the core of innovation. The article defines the connotation and characteristics of higher-order thinking, analyzes the basic structure of higher-order thinking, elaborates the importance and value of cultivating higher-order thinking of primary and middle school students, and explores effective strategies for cultivating higher-order thinking in teaching practice.
