魏晋时,创作主体的才性问题普遍受人关注,但凝结为以“才”为核心的范畴集群是在唐以后。唐人的“尽才”思想以及圣人、风俗、天地“养才”的观点,对后人产生了深远的影响。但宋以后,因道与文的分途发展,文人的自尚宗趣与自觉独立,使得“才”的讨论脱开了政教束缚,走向更精细的境地。基于“才”的酝酿、发扬与呈现竭尽幽微与特殊,时人将兴趣更放在难以究诘的“天地养才”上,由此演成传统文论中主体理论与主体论范畴的极大丰富与发展。
