老官台文化是一种早于仰韶文化半坡类型(或称文化)的文化遗存,其主要分布于渭水流域和汉水上游地区,年代约为距今8000~7000年。考古界对该文化的研究,至今已有四十多年,其间经历了发展、识之肤浅至逐步深入的认识过程。50年代末期至70年代初期,是老官台文化得以发现和确认的初始阶段。在此之前,虽已有零星的老官台文化遗物面世,但因没有发现这种文化的地层和单一的遗迹单位,故未能弓l起人们的注意(见页下注)。直到1959年4月,黄河水库考古工作_队陕西省分队华县队在试掘老官台遗址时,才第一次将老官台文化从已知的考古学文化中识别出来。这次发
Lao Guantai culture is a kind of cultural relic that was earlier than the Banpo type (or culture) of Yangshao culture. It mainly distributes in the upper reaches of the Wei River and Hanshui River, with an age of about 8000-7000 years ago. The study of the culture in the archeological community has been going on for more than four decades. During this period, the study has undergone profound changes in its development and understanding. From the late 1950s to the early 1970s, it was the initial stage of the discovery and confirmation of the Lao Guan Tai culture.
