Reading is the basis of writing, writing is a supplement to reading, the two are interrelated and indivisible. However, in traditional high school English teaching, reading and writing are almost separated. Reading focuses on getting students to read materials for examination. Writing is even more deficient. Teachers even arrange tasks directly. After writing, students are not satisfied with the results ideal. The author advocates reading-driven writing teaching, which aims to promote students’ reading comprehension and writing ability by guiding students to read English materials, drawing materials and methods during the reading process and writing again. In this regard, this article combines high school English reading and writing teaching practice for a brief analysis.
