十八世紀德国启蒙运动大师萊辛在他的著名的《汉堡剧評》里,对于表演艺术提出了一个有趣的見解。他认为,“演員的艺术介乎造型艺术与詩歌之間。”当詩人毫不控制自己的情感的时候,演員必須控制自己;但是作为一种动的繪画,表演艺术又不必使每个姿势永远具有古代造型艺术那种鎮靜的表情。固然,萊辛在这里主要是从表現方式来談的,但是如果我們把表演艺术中的体驗派与表現派作一番比較的話,那么我們也可以说,在这詩情画意的表演艺术中,体驗派側重于詩情,而表現派偏重于画意。
