Located on the shores of Lake Leimen in the southwest corner of Lausanne, Switzerland is a sepia-colored glass building (see photo on the back cover), surrounded by vigorous pine trees and green grass in a quiet and tranquil setting. This is the world famous International Olympic Committee headquarters in Lausanne. Sports people affectionately call it “Olympic House.” The IOC headquarters was originally located in Paris. It moved to Villa Monclova in Lausanne in 1915 and moved to the Palace of the Wadi in 1968. The headquarters building was built next to the Vidi Palace in October 1986. The new headquarters building has three floors, one basement and two floors on the ground. Dark brown glass facade reflects the surrounding landscape clearly. The interior walls are all white marble in Brazil, symbolizing the lofty and purity of the Olympic spirit. The door is made of Greek white marble, with a dark brown wall in sharp contrast.
