内蒙古自治区现有国营林场299个(不包括大兴安岭林管局所属林场),近几年来,在“以林为主,多种经营,综合利用,以短养长”方针指导下,各林场在全面完成林业生产的同时,因地制宜地开展多种经营、木材综合利用并取得了较好的经济效益。据不完全统计,1986年国营林场参与多种经营的生产人员共5,400人,全年总产值2,407万元,除上缴各种税金外,获得利润608万元,为总产值的25％。1987年,由于各种产品产量和质量的提高,经济效益又有了明显增加。仅赤峰市统计,全市国营林场多种经营总产值已达到904万元,获利润150万元。
