On October 7 in Boston, Mr. Ma Zehua, Executive Vice President of COSCO Group, attended the closing luncheon of the Annual Conference of the International Propeller Club on behalf of Capt. Wei Jiafu, President & CEO of COSCO Group. Founded in 1927, the International Propeller Club is a non-profit international organization with members from America and all over the world. The goal of the Club is to promote international maritime business in America and the rest of the world through cooperation with other industrial organizations and to protect the interest of the maritime world. The Club advocates to regulators and the public the importance of maritime industry. During the luncheon, the chairwoman of the conference presented an International Maritime Achievement Award to COSCO’s Group President Capt. Wei Jiafu, who was represented by Mr. Ma Zehua. It is the first time in the Club’s history to honor the CEO of a foreign shipping company with such a senior award. Mr. Ma Zehua accepted the award on behalf of Capt. Wei, expressing his thanks to the Club for its recognition of Capt. Wei’s contribution to the international maritime industry. Mr. Ma then delivered a keynote speech with the theme of “The Challenges that Carriers Face in American Ports”. Speaking to an audience of political and industrial representatives, Mr. Ma called for the American ports to improve its infrastructure and efficiency to meet the growing demands of future container trades. Citing the good example of COSCO-Massport cooperation, he also expressed hopes of strengthening COSCO’s partnerships with American ports.
