Preface Nearly two decades, organic polymer-based plastics have been widely used as human implants. Typical examples include the use of silicone rubber for blood vessels and urethra in plastic surgery, the replacement of certain parts of the heart with polyurethane, the use of polymethylmethacrylate as a bone binder, and the filling of teeth , With ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene artificial joints and knees. Because of its high strength and good rigidity, fiber reinforced materials are used to make the best stress-tolerant human implants, such as the hip, knee and the like. However, until now, fiber reinforced plastics have been used less because they are considered biocompatible and unsuitable for use as a matrix material.
