Zhangye City in northwest Gansu Province was a pivotal trading center midway along the Hexi Corridor on the ancient silk road， and at the core of east-West cultural exchanges and the commingling of different ethnic groups. along with other cities in central and western China， Zhangye can now expect a thoroughgoing renewal due to the new development opportunities engendered by the Chinese government’s recent launch of the Belt and the road Initiative.
　　Zhangye， with its special geographical location， distinctive culture， and inclusive attitude， has been reassessing its historical and cultural resources with the aim of becoming a crucial ecological security barrier， a regional transportation hub， a green agricultural production center， and an international tourist destination along the silk road economic Belt. Zhangye， once likened to a pearl along the silk road， is even more resplendent today.
