Objective To understand the status quo of static behavior of primary school students in Shanghai and to provide reference for exploring the relationship between static behavior and overweight and obesity in children. Methods A stratified cluster sampling method was used to randomly select six primary schools in one district of downtown Shanghai and suburbs. The height and weight of 1 511 first- and second-year primary school pupils were measured and the body mass Index (BMI) and overweight and obesity rate, collected by students ’self-check questionnaire, students’ static behavior time. Results The total static behavior time of pupils in Shanghai was (7.30 ± 3.02) h / d. Whether on school day or weekend, primary school students spend most of their time after class static behavior is homework / reading, watching TV. By multivariate Logistic regression analysis, the risk of overweight and obesity among primary school students increased by 13% (OR = 1.13) after every 1 hour of homework / reading time on school day after adjusting for gender, age, appetite, physical activity time and sleep time , 95% CI = 1.01 ~ 1.26). BMI as the dependent variable multiple linear regression in the correction of gender, age, appetite, physical activity time, sleep time and found that the school days to write homework / reading longer, the longer the computer to play on the school day, school days The longer the piano, the greater the BMI (partial regression coefficients were 0.18,1.03,3.01, P <0.01). Conclusion School assignment homework / reading and playing computer may be related to overweight and obesity in Shanghai primary school students.
