成本较低的“彩虹”-D2计划彩虹设计局与茹科夫斯基研究院共同制定了一个高超音速技术发展计划,茹科夫斯基研究院负责超燃冲压发动机的研制,彩虹设计局负责试验飞行器的研制。后来,德国航空航天公司、德国航空航天研究院、慕尼黑发动机涡轮联合公司也参加了该计划的研究,并在德国进行的试验中取得成功。虽然,“彩虹”-D2试飞器在1997年的航展上进行过公开展出,但是后来对它详细介绍的资料很少。
Low Cost “Rainbow” -D2 Project Rainbow Design Bureau and Zhukovsky Institute co-developed a hypersonic technology development program, Zhukovsky Institute responsible for the development of scramjet engine, Rainbow Design Bureau is responsible for Development of experimental aircraft. Later, Aerospatiale, German Aerospace Research Institute, and Munich Engine Turbine Allied Company also participated in the study of the program and succeeded in the tests conducted in Germany. Although the “Rainbow” -D2 test aircraft was publicly exhibited at the 1997 Air Show, information on the details later was scarce.
