人類文明已經積累了浩瀚的典籍,其中有些被認爲是經典,有些則不被認爲是經典。對經典與非經典的區分,在中國古代早就開始了,並形成了完整的經典系統。那麼,一些文本是如何被古人認爲是經典的呢?“如何”這種發問探尋的是行爲方式,也就是方法問題,而方法需要具有一定的操作性纔能是有效的方法。如果能給出一些較有操作性的條件,問題就容易解決。因此,剛纔的問題也可以這樣發問:古人根據什麼條件來判斷一個文本是或不是經典?這乃是從條件的角度追問“經典是什麼”。
