近几年民间美术迅速得以发展。民间美术热逐渐升温。但火热的表象下也露出民间美术发展的尴尬,主要表现在:一是传承的尴尬;二是工业化时代的成批复制的尴尬;三是工业化的复制和纯手工艺人的自我复制导致了艺术品价值降低的尴尬;四是在商品经济的冲击下民间美术部分门类出现了变异的尴尬。要认清并排除存在的种种尴尬最重要的是保持住民间美术那种对生活的虔诚与执著。
