1 Overview A few rare case reports in the literature [8-12] and a small series of prenatal ultrasound tests confirm fetal cytomegalovirus infection. Only one of the reports described the presence of hepatomegaly and splenomegaly at the same time as the cytomegalovirus infected fetus with intrauterine growth retardation.
