前言由中央农业广播学校编写的《遗传及作物育种》一书很好,它内容丰富,联系实际,对广大种子工作者和农业科技干部,学习农作物遗传和育种知识很有帮助。今年,本刊在“种子讲座”栏目中,将分十二讲连载。现代育种学是以现代遗传学为基础的。遗传学是研究生物遗传和变异规律的科学。了解了生物遗传和变异的内在规律,就可以有效地选择优良变异个体或利用人工创造变异,选育新品种,并保持新品种的优良性状稳定遗传,在较长时间内发挥优良特性的作用。譬如,育种上常常遇到的问题,像杂交种第一代为什么都整齐一致,产量高,而第二代就变得参差不齐,并且产量显著下降?单纯靠灌大水施大肥,能否选育出高产品种?都是属于遗传学的范畴。如果我们掌握了一定的遗传学知识,在实践中碰到某些具体问题时,就能运用遗传学的原理,灵活地加以解决,从而避免了育种工作中的盲目性。遗传学和作物育种学是紧密相关的两部分。也正因为如此,本讲座将遗传学和作物育种学两部分尽可能地揉和在一起,以达到学以致用的目的。
