层控矿床是当前矿床学界讨论最热烈的课题之一。它是受一定地层层位控制、矿体呈层状或基本上呈层状展布的一类矿床。矿床的形成往往经历了一个比较复杂的成矿过程,既有同生沉积(或火山-沉积)作用为基础的部分,又有后生成矿作用(如岩浆、变质和热液等)的叠加和改造部分。因而它是介于同生和后生之间,既受沉积作用(或火山-沉积作用)的控制,又受构造、岩浆活动及各类热液作用相互影响而生成的复成因矿床。它是构造—岩浆—沉积作用相互作用的最终产物。
