Under the EU law, member states have the right to designate broadcasted free-to-air television channels for sports and cultural events of their utmost importance to them. Member states must inform the European Commission of the list of events they designate, and then the European Commission will verify that the list of member states meets the requirements of the EU law. According to the UK Broadcasting Act of 1996, the UK includes all matches of the FIFA World Cup and the European Championship finals in the Event List, so that each of their matches can be broadcast on a free television station. The European Commission examined and approved the list of events in the United Kingdom. FIFA and UEFA try to challenge the European Commission’s decision that the European Commission to review the list of events through the British program is a violation of the procedure, more precisely, other member states only listed “important” or “ Wonderful ”or“ knockout ”tournament, while the UK unjustly and illegally all of these matches are included in the list. The case of FIFA and UEFA v. The European Commission ended the same as their opposition to the European Commission’s examination of the Belgian case that included only major events in the list.
