HC (Hoechst Celanese Corp.) is putting its products into the optoelectronic device market together with a series of acoustic, electrical, and fiber optic devices manufactured by General Electric of the United Kingdom (GEC). According to Leon Starr, director of the research department of HC, “The promotion of this product line will contribute to the plan that was implemented since 1983, that is, the development of organic, non-linear technology for new types of photopolymers, with the aim of targeting the next generation. The optical and electro-optical devices Starr said: ”It is expected that this new series of products will enable fiber optics to transmit at rates that are one to two orders of magnitude greater than the potential transmission rates of existing inorganic and organic crystalline materials. And their structure will enable the device’s design capabilities to be strengthened and simplifies commercial production. ”
