Homocysteine (homocysteine HCY), also known as homocysteine, is a sulfur-containing amino acid that plays an important role in folate metabolism and is involved in many biochemical reactions. In 1996, McCully proposed that homocysteimia may be involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Since then, a large number of studies have shown that hyperhomocysteinemia is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and is closely related to the occurrence and development of coronary artery disease. This article will HCY and coronary heart disease vascular disease are summarized below. First, homocysteine (HCY) metabolism HCY as methionine metabolism intermediate, the source of ammonia
