作为世界上历史最悠久、规模最大的图书馆专业协会之一,美国图书馆协会(American Library Association,ALA)面向图书馆业界、研究人员以及公众发布的年度报告是了解美国图书馆业的重要窗口,对于我国图书馆接触、认知和接轨国际前沿,推进图书馆事业发展无疑具有积极的参考和借鉴意义。2014年度的美国图书馆协会年度报告重点着墨于数字化环境下图书馆和图书馆服务的转型,介绍了美国图书馆业在素养教育、信息咨询、社交环境营造、创新服务和新技术应用等图书馆核心领域如何克服种种挑战,持续进行转型与革新。本年度报告援引了皮尤研究中心(Pew Research Center)、哈佛大学伯克曼互联网和社会中心以及美国国家教育统计中心等权威机构的统计数字,详实描述了美国图书馆业在社区参与、知识自由和虚拟服务等方面所作出的努力。此外,报告展示了美国图书馆协会一年来组织的项目与成就。本刊经美国图书馆协会授权,兹将《2014美国图书馆协会白皮书》(中译本)予以刊发,以飨读者。
