慢病毒感染(Slow virus infection)是指机体感染了慢病毒,经过相当长的潜伏期后缓慢地发病。发病后进行性恶化,预后极不良的病毒感染或类似病毒的新病原体感染的疾病。有关慢病毒感染的资料早在1954年英国著名兽医学家 Sigurdssion 在研究绵羊慢性传染病时提出来慢病毒感染这一概念。近年来,我国学者认为病毒作为分子生物,其生物特征无所谓快与慢,只是其病程有快有慢而已。因而把慢病毒感染称为病毒的慢感染。
