峰峰矿务局牛儿庄矿位于太行山脉九山东麓,峰峰煤田北部。全井田近似菱形,走向长平均3km,倾斜长平均2.6km,面积7.8km~2。井田分南北两翼,南翼构造简单,煤层倾角10~25°,北翼地质构造复杂、断层多、顶板破碎,仅一个工作面就有几条至十几条大小不等落差2~10m的断层,个别工作面甚至有1m以上的断层多达17条,倾斜角30~60°。在这种情况下,我矿仍然采用分层走向长壁式布置工作面,放炮落煤,搪瓷溜槽自重运输,全部陷落法、金属支柱配合金属绞接顶梁支护顶板,安全地采完了大煤5个工作面和薄煤4个工作面,采出煤量89.7万
