我国机械化驼峰要甩掉铁鞋实现目的制动自动化,面临着两个难题:①机械化驼峰都在大型的路网性、区域性编组站,运输十分繁忙,自动化改造必须尽可能减少对运输的干扰;②采用减速器与减速顶结合方案虽然可以对车场断面足够的机械化驼峰进行自动化改造(例如哈尔滨站下行场),但是,我国大多数机械化驼峰断面为锅底形,车场内位能不足,若采用减速器与减速顶结合方案,土方工程巨大,根本行不通。
